What do our files get used for?

I was just thinking we have about 14000 members but I seems to be only a handful of us post remixes/mash ups etc. Where do our files go or get used for?
Alot of new members use the intro thread saying how great this site is (which it is). But never really use the site to promote themselves.
Is collecting accapellas etc a new fad like a new form of stamp collecting?

Thats a good question.I can honestly say that there is a crapload of stuff that I haven't downloaded,but what I have downloaded I either use for practice/educational purposes or to promotski myself.

One thing I do not do is leak anything I find here anywhere.What I get from LR is all mine mine mine!!!! To play with or hold onto for a rainy day.Its not so much about collecting for me,more having a good arsenal of material to hand should I ever need inspiration or direction.

That gives you some insight in to one user at least!

.....oh yea one other thing I have done with our files is smash them to bits courtesy of one of samsungs life wrecking hard drives

I know where your coming from Griers and I do think a big reason why members don't share their tracks is the reason Don mentioned... They feel the bar is too high. Personally I don't think that's a good enough excuse because, yes, the standards vary but the more experienced or accomplished members will give feedback & advice.

I use files from LR for a number of reasons. Mashups, extended edits, live mixing, etc. although I don't really download that much coz I concentrate on the DJing part of my job and not producing. Everyone to their own though, you don't have to be 100% into production to be a member here.
