been searching high and low for this snare..

Have you tried layering a clap sample with a snare sample that sounds quite similar?

If not, try that along with:
  • Triming the tails of the samples (to keep the samples short)
  • Give the snare a slight EQ boost around 6kHz (to make the snare 'snappier')
  • Keep the samples dry (no reverb or delay)

^That might get you somewhere close.

Adding to all the good poitns AAJH said, it definitely sounds like a layered sample that's been compressed the hell together.
 
i have a few dubstep sound packs, and im pretty sure i have either that 1, or summink thats very very close,, but the guys mentioned above have pretty much nailed how to actually do it, i think there a low end kick there aswell, but dont quote me,, but, i will have a look at my packs abit later and send u all that i have, u can choose 1 for urself,
