I think (nothing was said to me) that in part, it could have to be that so many dead post have files people look for and can't find them anywhere's else. Nearly all those dead files have members who got them and still have them but do not care to repost. I know this doesn't seem like a big deal but I joined the site based on a google search for evanescence content. One post stood out with having a number of evanescence acapellas and stuff that were dead links. I was disappointed but non the less joined. I also feel some has to do with just people not having patience. They want something right then and if they can't get it to not having enough credits right away, they move on. When members want something that is dead and not the stuff that is working they see the credit system pointless.

I personally miss the trading section. Found a lot of rare tracks that way. Plus with the end of RB, everything dried up

Thanks for your feedback guys. I wont reply to feedback quite yet as i would like to get a collective of grievances before addressing them publicly.

To other members, if you do not give feedback about another reason then i cant work on a solution. We are trying to make LR the best site for you to find what you need and more. Help us help you.

I have to agree. Only those who remain silent will be the ones who complain the most later.

My only reason is a lack of tracks that I'm looking for, being mostly interested in classic rock/metal and pre-1990 stuff. There's virtually zero post-2000 that interests me. Not much like that being posted these days.

Hello. Yes I have a few comments. Perhaps there are those who don't like the credit system and the need to sign up for a paid service. After all we do live in a world with a "I want it now and for free" mentality thanks to the internet making it easy to pirate digital data by its very nature. I found LR after a search for some content and then found I needed to sign up. I did another search and when I found stuff I wanted was exclusive to LR decided to signup. After all it really wasn't that much for my "starter pack" and most hobbies cost money anyway. It then took a few days for my credits to arrive in which I even sent a message asking about it. But it was fine:)

My next point would be information provided on a file you want to download. We've seen posts where it says something like "30 multitrack stems" but doesn't even mention what songs are included. These could be from anywhere and it's an obvious grab for easy credits.

Something else that irks me would be details of files inside. Ogg provides a clue but what I like to know are bitrate and a file list provided. I'd also like to know information on the source itself if possible such as original format and bitrate. Especially for WAVE. Now this sounds good and especially 24-bit WAVE but unless specified that won't always mean lossless. Except for real studio quality files.

For this reason credits are a commodity. And I treat them as such. I do check out posts I'm interested in and commit a credit if I would like it and consider it worthwhile.

I've brought this type of thing up before but I think it would be good to change the search mode on the top. Most of the time I want to search in thread titles only. And also would like an easy way to search for the artists full name. For example I once was looking for Steven Perry. But this returns results for both Steve Miller and Katy Perry. Where as I only wanted both obviously or none at all. After an advanced search I concluded there were no stems available.

Also dead links are annoying. I once discovered a file I wanted only to find the link was dead. I enquired of the original poster only to find he no longer had the file. Now other would unless they deleted it also. This brings to mind. Perhaps some sort of exclusive torrent system can be put in place as a backup. This way if the original is dead it can still be shared without resources put into fixing it. At least for a while.

Finally, a point that comes to mind would be the somewhat strange HTML coding, causing the site to fail loading correctly on some browsers. Works fine in a desktop browser AFAICT. But even with Chrome or FireFox on mobile it doesn't render correctly.

Recently canceled my gold membership until new stuff starts appearing again.

The last 2 months have been rough for releases. This week showed promise but I've seen more DIY instrumentals in the last month than since I joined 18 months ago. What's sad is the acapellas used to create the DIY instrumental are not posted either. I remember tracks from artists like Sia, Iggy, Dillon Francis, OneRepublic, Coldplay and so on would appear a week or in some case a day after release. The Lady Gaga track was the first time this happened in just under 2 months. This dry spell is just too costly to maintain a persistent membership. That said this is still the best site. ;)

My only fixable issue is regarding the requests. I feel requests should have an expiration date, that way if the request expires without being filled the credits would be refunded and the request post removed. The requester could always re-post for the same credit fee if they are dying to have the song.
I have many requests that were never filled. This is also costly so I've stopped requesting as much as I used to.

The site functionality is great. I have no other complaints, keep up the good work.

Unfortunately there are a lot of people who want something for nothing and they don't like to (can't be arsed to) share their material or participate. I've noticed a HUGE increase in people who aren't into music production, but they want stuff by the latest pop princess so they can lord it over others in their peer groups.
Also, there are members on here who will just download files and then share them on soundcloud/reddit/tumblr/youtube etc instead of sending people over to this site.

Because there are more "collectors" and fewer musicians/producers/remixers, there's less work being showcased. I think fear of copyright problems may also be a smaller contributing factor.

To be truthful, nowadays it seems no one cares about posting files, most of the time all you get is "I'm not posting it but I'll trade you for it".

I've received this about 13 times in the last 2 months, which defeats the point of this forum.

I greatly respect the people who are still posting files.

SF.

People just don't want to share their files. They say they keep it "for trading" but they just keep them as trophies more than anything else.
Also, lack of interesting content (but then again, mostly because of those paranoid people with their obsession of keeping rare stuff for themselves like Gollum and his obsession for the ring).

It's lack of the 2010 crew ;) Don't mean to be offensive to the current staff members, as you all are just as good but i currently don't know you as much, that's probably my fault though haha! Anyway back to the point, that's what partially got me interested in this site, all the comical banter in the chat box plus the shoutcast too! I'm aware that you are currently having issues with it but DJing live got me interested, all the acapellas and instrumentals were a bonus. There are a lot more sites offering similar services (acapellas/instrumentals/remix stems) so it's probably flooded the genre Lite Records is in, suppose we need to find something to massively differentiate ourselves to them! The rep system is good and gives the site a unique feel, but I suppose we need something else :D
As mentioned in other comments, the copyright law sort of kills it off, I don't upload as much anymore because I sometimes feel it would be pointless to upload a mash to have it taken down 10 minutes later. Plus I'm a bit busier these days, so I don't always have the time, ahhhhhh free time, they were the days :D

brad thank you to worry about you on the proper conduct of the Forum, I think everyone just now it turns around less and less of "scoop" (acapella and stems) available I think that's the big problem which may become worse if it does not improve, it is true that since the rockband and guitar hero are more decrypted biggest thing was to put in their mouths !!!
soon to brad.

I don't know which option to choose because it's just speculation. I could only guess. Credit/share system isn't bad, I think. But I do know that you're doing a very fine job and I really respect you for it. I hope you'll keep the forum alive. If there's anything we/I can do, please let us/me know.

As for RB4 stems, I thought some people were thinking of new ways of getting at least something out of the game, even if it's not clean... We'll see... I just don't want to believe that there is no hope.

I have only one gripe (which does not concern people running this forum). It's the fact that people don't want to share knowledge. DIY methods evolve and we have our own ways, but I'd never keep my methods secret because it makes no sense whatsoever. I have asked some people what methods they used and the replies were... Let me just say that I rather wish they replied with "won't tell ya, fuck off" than send extremely vague replies with no actual information. What is that? I'd appreciate new ideas just so that I could improve the DIYs I've already made and maybe try and do some new ones (of old tracks, I have no interest in current chart crap). The way some people regard knowledge baffles me to say the least...

I think it's a combination of reasons. Given the copyright systems for YouTube & SoundCloud have become stricter, some mashup artists have either had their accounts shut down or have stopped posting as much or with as many artists. The knock on effect of that may have led to people not mixing as much and thus not using LR to acquire materials. As a mashup artist myself, I can definitely say that's partly why I've not been here as much. I also have minimal credits and next to nothing to share so it's kinda a lose-lose situation.

Like others have said earlier in the thread, there are a lot of people who can't or don't want to share files which has led to less posts.
As for what could be done to increase the number of members visiting, it's hard to know really. Whilst there's people wanting the trading section back, wasn't it shut down due to in being basically inactive?

Can't add too much to what's already been said, but will echo a number of points worth noting:

* Takedowns and blocking have made it difficult to keep tracks up on the various audio platforms and social networks that it makes mashup artists less interested to get materials. It doesn't help that there are less sources coming out lately.

* It's become harder to share at least for me because the vast majority of acapellas and instrumentals I have (especially the valuable ones) are already posted. Also some members keep sources for trading.

* If I'm going to pay a credit for an acapella or instrumental, it'd be good to know what quality I'm getting so I'm not getting a transcode or LQ track. It'd also be useful as to knowing how a DIY was derived (if it was through instrumental inversion, mono image, noise reduction, or all of these) so I have a general idea. Maybe a 30 sec preview if possible?

Suggestion regarding credits:
What about a credit system similar to acapellas4u but with credit accrual, say, 1 credit per month at the free level, and then pay if you want a ton of credits? That way, everyone starts at a level that's good enough to get started (and gives members a benefit), but to get more, they need to share or pay to get even more credits. It not only satisfies the instant gratification case which brings people back, but can also benefit members who share even more.

Personally, I feel like I for the most part have everything I need and want, and nothing new is appearing, really. There is a new wave of "traders" who just trade for anything and everything and know very little about what they're getting, so many fakes and filters circulate and leak here as the "OFFICIAL STUDIO ACAPELLA STEMS RARE" when it's a very poor DIY. I personally also miss the trading section, the ability to trade with people and knowing it will be safe was nice, although I missed out on it when it was around, I would love to try it this time.

i know for a fact that alot of people i know that do multitrack stuff would love this site , sadly they cant post anything due to it already being posted , which means no credits for them , which means no access :/ But I Love the site :)
