As i mentioned to Mike in his support ticket:

Our currency system is linked to the reaction function. Liking content in resource areas unlocks hidden content and requires credit to do so. If you fall below positive credits the ability to like a post is disabled.

You can earn credits by sharing content that isn't already available.
You can also purchase credits or account upgrades via the 'Upgrade' tab.
