Hey guys, i received a letter this morning from The High Court of Justice, Chancery Division summoning me to court or pay a £300 fine under charges of copyright infringement. Fuck me not, this is not a windup! Stamped officially from the Chancery Chambers. This charge relates to a file downloaded through uTorrent, September 2009, "Evacuate The Dancefloor" from "Top40 UK Singles".

It was noted that the client had requested my IP from Sky and of course it came back to my address. Unless you have a very effective proxy hider then i suggest taking extra caution when downloading music from uTorrent. I strongly recommend using public file hosts like Mediafire, Zippyshare etc. DO NOT rely on Rapidshare as they are also scanning files for copyright also.

I have to pay this fine or go to court, dont make the silly mistake i did! Aspecially when im saving you from a £300 fine you could just donate some pennies to Lazy Records haha!

£300 for ONE song?

Fuck that. I am angry on your behalf. What's the worst that can happen in court?

A jail sentence for downloading Cascada?

If that is in any way possible then I want to move on to my own island and create a beautiful utopia free from oppresive laws. I'd be going postal on they azz.

i think my parents are going to murder me if they get a letter ahhhhhhhhhhh :( i now regret persuading them to get sky haha

unlucky that dude, im always careful about stuff like that these days. Id say that i buy almost all of my music now.

I wouldnt mind but ive downloaded 42 films in the past month or so hahahahaha no more for me for now i think till it all blows over a bit

I would just stay away from torrents period now days. Blogspots with zippyshare/mediafire links are the way to go...

I Literally Downloaded About 300+ Movies From UTorrent, And Burnt Them To DVD's... I Think If I Get A Letter It's Gonna Be For A Fine Way Bigger Than That!!! LMAO!!!

Well dude thats the thing, im worried about over the next 12 months receiving more and more! Ive spoken to my solicitor and im goina to go with the excuse that i didnt download anything, never even heard of the software in question and i only use computers for word processing and social networking. Also adding my wireless network is unsecure so anyone could be using my internet.

(keep in mind this is all a lie, im not silly enough to leave my network unsecure lol)

A Couple Of Years Ago, I Got The Same Thing, For "Norton's Internet Security"... I Was Trying To Download The Next Years Version Early, And I Got Busted... They Sent A Letter, And I Used That Excuse... They Couldn't Prove Anything And Nothing Happened To Me...

This has been hapening for years.. lol.. you need to block certain ranges when using shittier torrent programs.. such as utorrent.. as the majority of the other torrent apps already have certain ranges blocked/have a setting to do so or people have a file you could obtain with certain ranges to block from certain companys so that you cant receive from them.. or send to them.. which means they cant retrieve your ip :D but as you've already stated you can quite easily say you compter must have been hacked.. or your connection wasnt secure obviously make sure stuff you download is on a easily hidden portable drive.. so if it ever came to worse case senario.. you computer is clean :D

When It Comes To Torrents, I'm A Leecher... I Delete It As Soon As I'm Done With The App, Movie, Etc... That Way My Comp Is Clear Of Anything... LoL...

I have stayed with Sky and sent a letter to the solicitors. I havnt heard anything back from them so i assume (for now) its been dismissed.

Im afraid you'ld still have traces of the file unless you done a hard format of your drive each time and reinstalled winblows etc.. hense why there is such things as file restoring apps :D

this happened to me...i downloaded a season of entourage and was sued by HBO for copyright infringement, just when you think you get away with something theyre always watching

Dunno joepod they may have just sued you because you are actually watching that dribble :D just joking, its an ok tv show. My bro's mate is with sky and he got fined for downloading a song just like you TFD, he had to flee the country and go under a new name cause the fed's were after him for downloading boobies boobies boobies 2, just joking i am not actually sure what happned to him don't think he had to pay it though :)
