Hey guys, some of you may remember me setting up a shoutcast stream on the .co.uk forum shortly before our closure. Well im looking into relaunching a live radio station again on .net.

This feature will enable members to connect to the server and play live. Also while no DJs are on live there will be an auto-DJ system online where members can upload their mixes to be heard on site. Ive been looking through some software packages and think it could be a great addition to Lazy Records Net. This is not a free package so (non GOLD account) LR members wishing to stream live would be asked to pay a small one-off payment to help support the upkeep of the radio feature.

What are your thoughts?

I say it would work, But don't look to me to do anything for it. I say if the forum regains the exposure it had before the crash, then bring it back.

Whats the cost mate ? Can you gimme some of the tools, and I can check to see if there are non commercial options for them. I am not sure how many would pay for a radio and right now we need all the members we can get. So making the radio a "pay" for option would just ding our users. And also a lot of the guys would like to promote their remixes on the radio and hence restricting it with the pay option would just not work. Thats what I think. Although I do believe we need to get LR radio back soon.

No, you misunderstood. I would request a little one-off fee from the members who wish to stream LIVE, and it would be something like 75p or £1. Members have the privilege to send in mixes and have them added to the autoDJ playlist free-of-charge like any other member.

Myself and the techy have been having a chat and are looking at hosting our own shoutcast software hense, shoutcast hosting. So fee's may not be an issue anymore plus maximum control. I'll keep you guys posted

Yeah true i was like one of the only that did and reason proably was that they just wanted to leach. So i think you should wait till LR gettings built up again before starting the radio again

On the other hand i will integrating the player into the template this time so it will have maximum awareness. Plus with members having the opportunity to host their own live show i think (although it may take a while) it could become a key feature on the forum.

Does it have to be live? or can it be like the one before where you could send in your mixes and you played them at the time the person wished them to be played?

well u can do a pre-recorded set of up to an hour. live shows get up to 2 hours and tracks uploaded up to 8minutes.
