IDM Production.

Does anyone here get involved in the IDM scene often?
Anyone write/produce any IDM music?

I've really fallen in love with artists such as 'Boy Is Fiction' & 'Wisp' and i'm having a crack at producing some of that sort of stuff myself.

Just wondering if you guys ever mess around with it.
I've been using NI Komplete 7 with a bunch of samples and some cool pads, leads, plucks etc that I have saved over the years, and it seems to work a charm. (Oh, and using Logic Pro 9)

I'm just interested to see how broad the music production scheme is on here!

IDM is one of those terms that is really tough to pin down, and I'm not sure Wikipedia does too good a job of explaining it. Part of the problem is that most acts that make IDM also make stuff that you'd have trouble dancing to even if you matched charlie sheen's consumption habits. It's like 'intelligent drum and bass', it all depends on your definition of intelligent.

I guess I make some music that people would call IDM, mostly because I program beats, enjoy exploring odd noises and effects, and don't do many obvious chord progresssions (although that last bit is probably because I just hit a bunch of keys until I get something that works)

Haha, you're right, the Wikipedia isn't great, and that's probably got something to do with your other point that the genre itself is quite hard to define.
I guess I was just interested to see if anyone ventured outside of the most commonly seen hardstyle/dance/electro on here.
